Most memorable/fondest memory of Univ? Mint julep party in the Fellows' Garden when Prof Strawson informed the mulberry tree that there was no God; inaugural dinner of Beveridge Society (founded by me) on the night Pres. Kennedy was killed.
Awkward moments at Univ? Dressing down from the junior dean for firing a firework from my room in the main quad.
The most important thing I learnt? There were people who were much cleverer and more talented than me.
Most important thing you wish you had learnt at Oxford? To type really well.

Lowest point in my life? Being sentenced to 4.5 years in gaol in Italy for a crime I did not commit. (I was acquitted in the end!)

Children: Eleanor (1970) - Journalist/columnist on Sunday Times; Luke (1972, Univ OM) - partner at Accenture; Annie (1975) - Psychoanalyst; Jessie (1981) - Pop Star; Matthew (1983) - Ex-pro Golfer, banker/entrepreuner. Most of them got firsts. All of them make me proud.
