The last Sollas Society Dinner was held in February 2011. The dinner was preceded by an undergraduate-led tour of the new Earth Sciences Department building on South Parks Road, following which Prof. Gideon Henderson, Sollas Fellow in Earth Sciences, gave a brief talk detailing some of the recent research of Univ Earth Scientists, and an overview of recent developments at the College and in the department.

The Sollas Society is a dining society where old and new Univ Earth Scientists can come together. Founded in 1982, and named after Prof. W.J. Sollas, the society has been a great success in providing an evening of good food and wine, great company and entertaining speeches. Past and present geologists are invited to “wine and dine” at the College.

The next Sollas Society Dinner will be held in February 2013. Details to be announced.
